About
us A
group of online therapists formed the Association for Counselling and Therapy
Online(ACTO) in October 2006 because they saw a need for an umbrella organisation
in the UK for therapists who practise online. The practice of psychological
therapy online is an exciting and relatively new form of therapy and we
believe that it will be the way of the future for many who are seeking or offering
emotional help. ACTO
is committed to setting and maintaining the highest standards of therapy in online
work. Therapists who are members of ACTO are also members of an established professional
body such as the BACP/ UKCP/ HPC, and are working
within agreed codes of ethics, including ACTO's Ethical
Code, and having regular supervision
(preferably with a supervisor who is trained and experienced in online work).
We strongly recommend that our member practitioners have professional indemnity
insurance. Links

professionals All full members of ACTO comply with the above conditions
and are qualified and experienced therapists who work online, most of whom have
completed further training for online work.
